Gelcoat schleifen war angesagt. Anstatt das Wasser von unserem Freibord fernzuhalten, absorbierte es dieser stattdessen f\u00f6rmlich. Nicht gut. Der alte, br\u00fcchige, rissige Gelcoat musste weg. Dass das in Verletzungen aller Art enden w\u00fcrde, konnte nat\u00fcrlich niemand ahnen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"425\" src=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/titelbild.jpg\" alt=\"Gelcoat schleifen an unserem Blauwasser Segelschiff\" class=\"wp-image-11662\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/titelbild.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/milagros.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/titelbild-300x125.jpg 300w, https:\/\/milagros.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/titelbild-768x319.jpg 768w, https:\/\/milagros.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/titelbild-16x7.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wir k\u00f6nnen nicht sagen, dass uns die ganze <a href=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/de\/milagros-im-sandsturm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">Aktion mit dem Sandstrahlen<\/span><\/a> nicht ein wenig nerv\u00f6s gemacht h\u00e4tte. Was w\u00fcrde unter den Schichten Farben alles hervorkommen? W\u00fcrden wir erste b\u00f6se \u00dcberraschungen erleben? Gl\u00fcckerweise war das nicht der Fall. Von vielen anderen Boatyard Bewohnern unter die Lupe genommen ist der allgemeine Tenor: Diese 40 Jahre alte H\u00fclle ist in einem sehr guten Zustand. Gl\u00fcck gehabt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-is-that-gelcoat-stuff\"><strong>Was ist Gelcoat \u00fcberhaupt?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nun war es aber Zeit, den alten Gelcoat zu schleifen \u2013 weg mit dem alten Zeug. Aber was ist Gelcoat \u00fcberhaupt? Gelcoat ist eine Kunstharz-Schutzschicht, die auf die H\u00fclle eines Schiffes aufgetragen wird um sie wasserdicht zu machen und vor UV-Strahlung zu sch\u00fctzen. Auch dient er als Kratzschutz. Lieber Kratzer im Gelcoat als im Fiberglas der H\u00fclle. Er wird mit Pinsel und Roller, oder mit einer Spritzpistole aufgetragen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-sanding-the-gelcoat\"><strong>Warum den Gelcoat schleifen?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Der Gelcoat von Milagros ist alt. Wir gehen davon aus, dass jahre- oder sogar jahrzehntelange UV-Strahlung die Schutzschicht unseres Schiffs derart zerfressen und aufgel\u00f6st hat, dass ihre Schutzeigenschaften komplett verloren gegangen sind. Nachdem sich niemand unserer Vorg\u00e4nger die Arbeit gemacht hatte, den Gelcoat wegzuschleifen, war das nun an uns. Je nachdem wie dick die Schichten auf dem Schiff sind, kann die Arbeit ins Unermessliche ausarten. Trotzdem legten wir los. Da wir sowieso eine Tonne Schleifpapier und alle anderen Materialien f\u00fcrs <a href=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/de\/antifouling-ist-schlecht\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">Antifouling schleifen<\/span><\/a> gekauft hatten, waren wir top ausger\u00fcstet. Diese war angeschlossen an einen Industrie-Staubsauger, damit die Staubentwicklung ein wenig unter Kontrolle war. Und wir hatten Gl\u00fcck! Obwohl wir uns auf einen langwierigen Prozess eingestellt hatten, kamen wir besser vorw\u00e4rts als erwartet. St\u00fcck f\u00fcr St\u00fcck wurde Milagros von ihrer alten, nutzlosen Beschichtung erl\u00f6st. Da er dort Strom \u00e0 discretion zur Hand hatte, ist unsere K\u00fcche mit allerlei Gadgets ausger\u00fcstet. Unter anderem hat er uns eine Fritteuse an Bord gelassen. Diese musste nat\u00fcrlich getestet werden. Beim tagelangen Gelcoat schleifen muss nat\u00fcrlich f\u00fcrs leibliche Wohl gesorgt sein. Der erste Test erfolgte in Form von selbstgemachten Pommes Frites aus frischen Kartoffeln. Oder wir versuchten uns an Jalape\u00f1os im Bierteig. Grossartig und lecker! Da Dave (ein anderer) von <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/theyvegonetoplaid\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">SV Cavu<\/span><\/a> nach Mozzarella Sticks verlangt hatte, wurden diese nat\u00fcrlich auch ausprobiert. Was sollen wir sagen? Wir haben alle Cabralians (ein Ausdruck f\u00fcr die Bewohner des Cabrales Boatyards) die Lust hatten, dazu eingeladen, mit uns die Entdeckung unserer Fritteuse zu feiern. So wurde vor Milagros frittiert, und der Abend war garniert von einem Mario Kart-Turnier in der Lounge. Unsere Erfahrung beim Gelcoat schleifen zeigte schnell \u2013 ohne Fleiss kein Preis. Wenn man das Zeug von seinem Schiff haben will und sich f\u00fcr die Schleifarbeit entscheidet, f\u00fchrt kein Weg daran vorbei, dass man viele Stunden einfach nur stumpf vor sich hin schleift. Es gibt keine Abk\u00fcrzung und keine Tricks um schneller vorw\u00e4rts zu kommen. Man muss einfach dranbleiben und nicht aufgeben. Auch wenn die Motivation und Lust nachl\u00e4sst \u2013 auch nur eine oder zwei Stunden pro Tag bringen einen vorw\u00e4rts. Ohne Durchhaltewillen h\u00e4tten wir schnell aufgegeben. Ich hatte mir w\u00e4hrend der Nacht wohl einen Nerv beim linken Schulterblatt eingeklemmt. Pati leistete erste Hilfe. H\u00e4tte das jemand geh\u00f6rt, die Polizei w\u00e4re mit Mordverdacht aufgetaucht. Aber trotz all ihrer Massagek\u00fcnste waren die folgenden Tage f\u00fcr mich gelaufen. So etwas habe ich noch nie erlebt. Den ganzen Tag Schmerzen und nur eingeschr\u00e4nkte Bewegungen. Und das ausgerechnet jetzt. Nichts mehr mit Gelcoat schleifen. Doktor Google sagte, dass ich nicht viel dagegen machen konnte, ausser Schmerzmittel schlucken und Dehn\u00fcbungen machen. Was f\u00fcr ein Scheiss. Show must go on \u2013 Pati schliff weiter und ich widmete mich B\u00fcroarbeiten (wenn man unseren Blog und Social Media denn so nennen kann).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pati-is-not-spared-either\"><strong>Auch Pati bleibt nicht verschont<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Als ich wieder einigermassen zu gebrauchen war, ging es wieder ins Gefecht. Beim Gelcoat schleifen wechselten wir uns ab. Der ganze Prozess war anstrengend f\u00fcr K\u00f6rper und Geist. Unsere schwere Schleifmaschine kombiniert mit der dicken Gelcoat Schicht \u2013 das war echt harte Arbeit. Neben meinem Nacken zollten auch Patis H\u00e4nde den stundenlangen Vibrationen Tribut. Nach ein paar Tagen hatte sie Schmerzen in ihren Daumen und musste eine Pause vom Gelcoat schleifen einlegen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-an-important-tip-for-sanding-work\"><strong>Ein wichiger Tipp f\u00fcr Schleifarbeiten<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Da ich viele Jahre als Maler auf dem Bau gearbeitet habe, bringe ich viel Erfahrung f\u00fcr Situationen wie das Gelcoat schleifen mit. Der wichtigste Tipp, den ich geben kann ist: Es bringt bei gr\u00f6sseren und gr\u00f6beren Schleifarbeiten \u00fcberhaupt nichts, Geld zu sparen, wenn es um die Ausr\u00fcstung geht. Eine gute, professionelle Schleifmaschine ist das A und O. Es bringt nichts, die billigste Schleifmaschine auf dem Markt zu kaufen, wenn sie nach einer halben Stunde den Geist aufgibt, weil der Motor nicht mit der Belastung klarkommt. Mehr ist mehr. Wir haben uns in unserem Fall bereits vor dem Start <a href=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/de\/der-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">unserer vielen Arbeiten<\/span><\/a>. Es war <a href=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/de\/milagros-im-sandsturm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">Luis<\/span><\/a> , der gerade Pause hatte. An einem anderen Tag hupte es sogar. Luis hat definitiv das coolste Auto in ganz Puerto Pe\u00f1asco. Er f\u00e4hrt einen alten, wundersch\u00f6nen roten VW K\u00e4fer. Da musste ich ihm nat\u00fcrlich sofort schreiben, dass wir auch mal mitfahren wollen! So gingen wir mit Luis im Restaurant seiner Mutter, der <a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/2vJ3yq298DKAiWMPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">Cenadur\u00eda Yoli<\/span><\/a>. Lustigerweise hatten wir das Restaurant bereits bei unserem <a href=\"https:\/\/milagros.ch\/de\/puerto-penasco-laesst-segelschiffe-fliegen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">ersten Besuch in Puerto Pe\u00f1asco im November<\/span><\/a>. Nat\u00fcrlich fuhren wir stilvoll in seinem roten Flitzer hin. Er hat fr\u00fcher in der zweiten mexikanischen Liga 10 Jahre lang bei den <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Murcilagos_F.C.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">Murci\u00e9lagos de Sinaloa<\/span><\/a> und <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Club_Tijuana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">Xolos Tijuana<\/span><\/a>. Wer vom Fussball-Virus gebissen ist, weiss dass keinerlei Heilungschancen bestehen. Und so spielt er auch noch heute beim lokalen Fussballverein names \u00abTazz\u00bb als Amateur. Nach einer souver\u00e4nen und kontrollierten 2:0 F\u00fchrung von Luis\u2019 Team zur Halbzeit z\u00fcndeten die beiden Mannschaften im zweiten Durchgang den Turbo. 7 Tore, 3 rote Karten, zwei Elfmeter und eine Rudelbildung nach einem Foul m\u00fcndeten in einer 3:6 Niederlage. Leider hatte Luis\u2019 Mannschaft gegen Ende den viel j\u00fcngeren Kontrahenten nichts entgegen zu setzen. Die Beine wurden zu m\u00fcde. Endlich wieder Fussball! Ich vermisse die Stadionbesuche bei meinem geliebten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcb.ch\/de-CH\/Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">FC Basel<\/span><\/a> zu Hause in der Schweiz. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, wenn es dann mal wieder soweit ist. Wer weiss, wann das sein wird. Wir konnten leider nur stundenweise von unseren Umbau-Verpflichtungen fl\u00fcchten. Es ging gut vorw\u00e4rts und Milagros sah komplett anders aus. Sie ist nun nicht mehr weiss, sondern dunkelblau im Dalmatiner-Look. Ein kleines Problem kam trotzdem noch auf. Eine kleine Einbuchtung am oberen Rand des Freibords konnten wir nicht mit unserer grossen Bosch Schleifmaschine in Angriff nehmen. Hier kam wie so oft Dave von <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/theyvegonetoplaid\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"color:#0693e3\" class=\"tadv-color\">SV Cavu<\/span><\/a> zur Hilfe. Aus! Vorbei! Done!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wir wissen gar nicht genau, wie viele Stunden ins Gelcoat schleifen geflossen sind. Es waren viele, so viel steht fest. Wir haben \u00fcber eine Woche lang Staub gefressen. Noch immer meldet sich mein Nacken den ganzen Tag, aber es geht mir viel besser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Es zeigt sich: Ohne Fleiss kein Preis.
